The Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro North was chartered under the governorship of PDG Bands Hernandez on May 13, 1986. The Rotary Club International President for that same year was Eduard Cadman.
The Club was composed of very young professionals who were sponsored by the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro under the Presidency of PP Doring Caragos. The Rotarian behind the formation of the club are GGR Mike Goking and the late PP Imbing Lugod. PP Imbing was assigned by PDG Bands as the governor’s Special Representative assisting him were the following Governor’s Extension Aide, the late PP Ness Fernandez and PP Joe Aluyen who were all members of the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro. The club’s charter president were PP Ralph Paguio and Ann Beth Martin. The club had started with 22 members with an average age of 32 years.
The club was chartered in the year upon which the most significant event in the Philippine history took place. in 1986, where the Filipino people showed to the world, how democracy works to stop a dictatorship in the government. It is the so-called “People Power Revolution of the Philippines” where the long staying dictator Ferdinand Marcos was deposed peacefully. This period by uncertainty was overshadowed by the Club’s Community Service projects which ranged from livelihood and Vocational training programs. The club has come a long way since then reaching out so many people in its neighboring communities. Cagayan de Oro
